The new theatre season is about to start and we will be kicking off this season with a festive bang! We are happy to inform you about our upcoming activities.

THE STORY OF THE STORY 8+

First of all we’d like to tell you about our latest big-scale family show that will premiere in Tilburg on 15 September.  The Story of the Story – Het Verhaal van het Verhaal– is ‘pure Batelaan’, a magical world that can ignite with sudden desires and expectations at any moment. From primitive types pottering about to celebrities, from interactive show to theatre of the object, from early TYA directions to latest experiment, this coproduction with Het Zuidelijk Toneel has it all. And if Hoe de grote mensen weggingen.. (How the grownups left…, 2016) is anything to go by, the new show is sure to make some waves! On 6 and 7 October it will be part of the Assitej showcase at the International Theatre Amsterdam. Tour until 16 December 2019.

REAL WOMEN WOULD RUN IN RAINPROOF GEAR

From 30 August – 2 September, Jetse’s debut as a director will be presented at Noorderzon performing arts festival in Groningen. A show about shifting four-part harmonies, the number of men that will fit into an organic waste bin, and what REAL women want. A forty-minute physical music theatre show, language no problem and fit for all ages!

THE INVISIBLE MAN 4+

For ten days in September Het Theaterfestival highlights “the best on offer in the Flemish, Brussels and Dutch theatres”. The Invisible Man – De onzichtbare man – has been selected as an “uncompromising, unruly, but very, very funny show” and will be presented on 8 September at Studio in Antwerp. And what’s more, The Invisible Man has been nominated for two awards, the VSCD Golden Cricket: “..we cannot take our eyes off the finely balanced mix between performance, set design and technical cleverness..” AND theVSCD Mime Award: “…a brilliantly well thought-out and funny contraption…”. The show will be performed at Theater de Krakeling on 9 September, during the Nederlands Theatre Festival Youngh.

WAR 6+

We are looking forward to a new series of shows for War – Oorlog –, which will take us to Theaterfestival Basel (2/3 September) and festival La Bâtie in Geneva (4/5 September). In Geneva it will be performed in French: GUERRE. Interest in WAR is growing internationally and every time something magical happens. We have plans for a tour in fall 2019.

HELLO ATMOSPHERE

Six children are singing to an audience of grownups about global warming. Audiences at Oerol and Theaterfestival Boulevard felt responsible, gave account and promised to do better in future. Hello Atmosphere – Hallo dampkring –is a concise and moving art project by Liesbet Swings, based on letters she had asked children to write. The show will be performed on location in Amsterdam on 12 and 13 October as part of the 40thanniversary of Theater de Krakeling.

We look forward to seeing you at Theater Artemis!
