The children who know everything
AN ART PROJECT WITH 260 CHILDREN AND 10 ARTISTS
The beginning evokes questions. Where are we from? Where are we going? What do we do with our time in between? Two hundred and sixty pupils from primary school Het Klokhuis each tried to answer those questions in their own way. Writer Eric Alink bundled all their stories. That story was the starting point for 10 working groups led by 10 artists. Children opted for a discipline and worked 11 afternoons on the story about the world.
We used our imagination to express different aspects of the story. And the project ended on the day of the big parade with all the children in a place where it all happens. We wore our images and our costumes, we sang our songs and walked the way we agreed. Once arrived at our home-made place, there was a ritual according to the agreements just made. We ate the things we should eat and drink the drinks that go with it.
The story was celebrated in Beek en Donk on 2 April 2015.
