Dance is moving nice and rhythmically to music 12+

A DANCE PERFORMANCE FOR WHICH WE ARE A LITTLE ASHAMED

With an exclusively 40+ cast, Theatre Artemis takes its first steps into a dance performance. An extremely dangerous undertaking. Especially for this young audience. We will definitely try to hold back as much as we can. That won’t be easy. Swept up by the contagious beats of Les Trucs, lit up by the flashing stage lights and dressed up in our most swinging outfits, we will do our best not to get down. Busting a quick dance move can happen before you know it. But we know it: we’re smelly, we’re clumsy, and we’re anything but sexy!

This is why we solemnly pledge: There shall be no dancing.

We promise.

Jetse Batelaan enjoys viewing the theatre and the people who are drawn towards it through a looking glass. In The day that the parrot wanted to speak for himself (2014) he made the audience a part of the show by having the actors and the audience parrot each other’s utterances.

In (…..) A show that doesn’t give a shit about its own vague title (2020) he portrayed the mistrust, doubt and anxiety of a visit to the theatre literally. Try taking a teenager to the theatre. They feel lectured, bored or embarrassed by everyone around them – especially the adults. They’re erratic and contentious. But his respect for them is endless and that’s what drives Jetse in his work.
