KID. is two-in-one.
Two performances unfolding at the same time.
Two audiences, separated only by a wall.

On one side, adults are watching an 18+ performance about children. On the other side, children are watching an 8+ performance about adults. Neither side knows what is happening on the other. You hear everything, but it’s not always what you think. And what you see doesn’t always match what you hear.

In KID., children are treated to a high-quality, philosophical slapstick performance about what an adult actually is. On the other side of the wall lies the backstage area. There, the adults must do everything in their power to keep the children’s performance running smoothly—while enjoying some adult-appropriate entertainment, such as a glass of red wine and a hint of functional nudity.

KID. is a production by hetpaleis and BOG., exploring the question of what it really means to be an adult. When you grow up, does that make you an adult? When you can pay for a house? When you are sad more often than happy?

It is confronting and disarmingly honest for adults, intimate and juicy for children, and hilarious for all ages. After the show, the intergenerational conversation continues in the foyer—because your child saw the same performance as you… or did they?

KID. won de Zilveren Krekel voor de meest indrukwekkende jeugdproductie. De jeugdtheater-jury schreef over KID.:

“KID. is een fenomenale voorstelling waarin de generatiekloof tussen volwassenen en kinderen de vorm van een muur heeft gekregen. De ouders kijken tegen de kale achterkant aan en worden figuranten, terwijl aan de kinderkant niets onbesproken blijft over hun ouders en volwassenheid. De tekst is intelligent en dat maakt KID. origineel, confronterend en goudeerlijk.”

Na de bekroonde voorstelling KID. maakten BOG. en hetpaleis opnieuw een familievoorstelling. BAS. Deze won ook een Zilveren Krekel.
